A high-impact performance programme for leaders

Before you can lift performance and results in your team, you must take a step back to ensure a shared understanding of dynamics, habits and culture. These form your operating system or building blocks of excellence. If you don’t tackle these first, you will not sustain success.

High performance experts show us there's a lot more to building a successful team and it takes commitment with discipline. You must also identify barriers like ego, fear, and unhelpful mindsets and replace them with the building blocks of excellence.  Together, become stronger than the sum of its parts.

Many businesses talk about people and culture yet don’t create the moments that matter because they’re rushing to put out the next operational fire. This programme is not a tick box exercise. It’s hard work. Few may have the courage to take it on.

"The programme with Angus worked. We wanted the team to be united, understand their why and have buy-in to our values. The outcome has been a real shift in the company. Now the team have a lot more emotional connection to what we do, rather than just doing it as a job. It feels great."

Mike Audi, General Manager, Fresha Export

This programme is ideal for you if you want to…

Align new teams to a common purpose and define success.

Rebuild after organisational change.

Improve performance or arrest a decline in results.

"Angus is not monotone, repetitive, or cookie cut. We found Angus different from what we’d seen previously, something new and fresh.  His performance workshops are a milestone of our work.  However, getting Angus out in front of the peeps and speaking is where the gold sits."

Nicola Borlase, General Manager People & Culture, Fulton Hogan

This is for teams committed to stepping up

Your people are burnt out and lack focus and motivation

It’s been a tough time and your people feel disconnected. Performance and results have plateaued. You know you need to work on your culture, rethink your purpose and values, get rid of the silo mentality, and reconnect with everyone leading from their position.

You need an external lens and a fresh approach

It's normal to lack the internal skills to run a programme that takes your leadership team out of business as usual to create meaningful impact. Take pressure off your typical facilitator so they can take part and add value. It’s hard to be a catalyst for change when you’re part of the team.

You get the practical tools and theory you need to create the building blocks of excellence together with your team. This programme is based on the art and science of human performance. This isn’t feel-good fluff.

A three-step programme for senior leaders

01

Pre-work interview

I schedule one-to-one calls with each of your leaders before we dive into our intense work together. I ask them where they and this team is at, where they see it going, explain the process, and answer any questions.

02

In-person workshop

This transformative two-day workshop covers six key building blocks of excellence. Scroll down for a detailed breakdown of your workshop activities.

03

Follow-up coaching

Included in your investment are three two-hour team check-ins. Primarily, I hold your leadership team accountable for the actions they promised to take in the workshop. A good cadence for these sessions is every three weeks.

"I was in awe of the way Angus walked our team through the values process. It was fantastic to see how it landed for our team, how they came together, how they delivered, and what our values are now."

DAY 1: MORNING

1: Reflect on your journey & context

We start by looking backwards. We dig into your track record, successes, and failures. This work unites your team and makes sure everybody’s on the same page, recognising what’s brought you here. Then we look at your context and all that impacts your team’s performance and results. What are your internal and external conditions? Are they helpful or unhelpful? How prepared and ready are you to perform together? This reflection brings insight, creates alignment and fuels motivation. Evidence tells us all great teams regularly self-reflect yet the difference comes with rigour and discipline to learn and follow through.

DAY 1: AFTERNOON

2: Agree on your shared purpose

Uniting on a purpose is essential for excellence. I guide the team through a series of challenging questions, including why does your team exist? What would happen if you didn't? How would the business know you weren't there? Then we identify the actions you’ll take to achieve your purpose.

3: Identify what you’re going to work on

What's going to tell you you're successfully achieving your purpose? We break your success measures down with clear detail, so there’s no confusion about what success looks like, and you can explain and act on them

4: Agree how you’re going to work

What matters to you on this journey? How will your values influence the way you work? What behaviours do you expect from each other and your teams? These measures become your ways of working.

DAY 2: MORNING

5: Agree roles and contributions

We break your journey to excellence down further and interrogate each leader’s individual roles in delivering on the purpose, success measures, and ways of working you identified together the day before. This isn’t about job titles. This is about getting hands on and contributing to the team. What are you going to do to help deliver those things you agreed to? Once we’ve agreed on your individual contributions, we look at how you work together as a collective. What’s your collective role as a senior leadership team in this success journey? Have you got the right people in the right place to deliver your goals? Who will work together on each objective?

DAY 2: AFTERNOON

6 : Build your calendar of actions

Your real team development happens after the workshop, when your leaders go back to their day jobs and do the doing. We build a calendar to keep your team on track, delivering their shared success plan. You decide together what your development journey will look like. • What actions will you deliver to reach your goals? • What are your timeframes and who’s responsible? • When do you need to check in – and how? • What team meeting habits will keep you on track? • What retrospectives best help your team take stock of progress?

Your workshop outcomes

At the end of your workshop, your leaders will be clear and aligned on:

  1. Where you've come from.

  2. How you move forward together.

  3. A shared purpose, where everyone's on the same page.

  4. A shared model of success and the tools to achieve your goals.

  5. The importance of individual and collective roles and contributions.

I summarise these key insights from your workshop in a short report and add recommendations for supporting your leaders to make progress. Your follow up team coaching sessions help your team put their plan into action.

Building Blocks of Excellence programme investment

Your Building Blocks of Excellence commitment includes:

Pre-work interviews, 1:1 with each leader

In-person workshop, ideally two consecutive full days

Follow-up coaching, three two-hour team sessions

Starts from $36,000 + travel and accommodation + GST

You can pay in three instalments of $12,000 over three months, with the first instalment due as a deposit when you make your booking.

  • How many people can do the programme?
The ideal number of senior leaders for the programme is six to nine. If you’ve a larger senior leadership team, talk to me, as I can adjust elements of the programme to work for a larger group.
  • Is this programme just for senior leaders?
No. It’s also ideal for middle managers, subject matter experts, and key influencers. They also are suited to use the high-impact tools with their teams, spread the ripple effect through consistent application, and amplify positive behaviour change. However, I recommend you start with your senior leaders. All change should start at the top and, helping senior leaders be better humans, has even greater value to those they lead.
  • Can we do a shorter version of the workshop?
I offer a shorter purpose workshop and a shorter values workshop. These are ideal for a senior leadership retreat, or as exercises to do with a wider group of leaders. Get in touch and I’ll tell you more.

"Angus quickly proved to be the catalyst we needed to realign our values and bring them to life. He demonstrated exceptional skill, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication, and a deep understanding of our organisational ethos and strategy, ensuring the new values resonate with our team and stakeholders."

Michelle Kingham, Group Learning & Development Manager, Steel & Tube

Things get real when you work with me

purple and blue gradient
You'll be uncomfortable

When ego, fear, and conflict come up, we’ll lean into them because that’s the path to game changing breakthroughs. I create a safe space where you can feel the discomfort that comes with growth.

purple and blue gradient
You'll be talking real talk

I'm not here to tick boxes. I hear the things people don’t say, see through the BS, and call it all out because that’s what it takes to get to that next level.

purple and blue gradient
You’re safe to be you

We’re all flawed and messy humans, every one of us. So, we do this with heart, humanity and a healthy dose of humour, because stepping up is hard and it can feel real and raw.

Talking of real talk, most businesses don’t have the guts for this

Most leaders want to get culture work over and dive into performance and results. Partly because they don’t appreciate or understand how important it is. Partly because this shit is hard. But if you’re serious about being a great leader, you've got to love hard work.

Those who really get this are few and far between. Which is great news for your business if you’re serious about standing out from your competitors, and giving your team the foundation they need to be the best in their field.

Miranda de Nooijer headshot

"Angus created a safe environment for our leaders really quickly. If you have leaders who are not naturally inclined to get out of their comfort zone, or to be vulnerable, and he was able to get them to that point in very short time."

Miranda de Nooijer, Chief People Officer, Worldline
